Hattie Mae Pierce

Hattie Mae Pierce, better known as Big Momma, is a character in Big Momma's House. She is Sherry's grandmother, Malcolm's grandmother-in-law, and Trent & Doug's great-grandmother.

Biography[]

Big Momma's House[]

Big Momma is known throughout Cartersville, for his affectionate nickname 'Big Momma'. In her first scene, while Malcolm and John are watching her in her backyard, she takes Sadie's dog and throws it out of her house, complaining that it always invades her backyard.

Soon after, Hattie and her friends, Sadie, Miss Patterson and the Other Miss Patterson gather in front of their house to go to their new neighbor's house forward to give welcome and offer cakes. However, when Sadie starts talking to John at the door, Hattie, in a bad mood, asks her to go faster so he can go home. Miss Patterson says Hattie has been having trouble with her stomach. John continues to try to stall them out to give Malcolm, who is inside Hattie's house, time to place hidden cameras around the house, but Hattie can't take it and leaves. John follows her and tries to reel her in, but she won't let herself be fooled. When she arrives at her house, John cover the door, giving a few seconds to Malcolm, because he had to mop the floor to clean the mess he made with his shoe and tries to give her a hug, but Hattie whacks his balls and manages to get inside.

Hattie enters the house and goes straight to the bathroom, while Malcolm is hiding in the bathtub, behind the curtains, and Hattie has a diarrhea, saying that those cooked plums went straight through. She finishes doing number two and turns on the shower and takes off her clothes to take a shower. As she sings "Oh Happy Day", Malcolm slowly climbs out of the bathtub and escapes the bathroom.

While Malcolm and John are playing coin toss in the Japanese food box at their house, behind them, on the televisions, Hattie is asleep, gets a call and gets up. She receives the news that she will have to help of a friend, she then leaves town for two weeks.

She returns early and is surprised to see what is happening at her house, but John tries to stop her from getting out of the taxi and Hattie offers the taxi driver 20 dollars if he will get John out, but John reveals that there is a surprise party for her, and that if she goes in she'll ruin everything, but Hattie says that if it's her party then she's missing out. She enters her house and everyone asks where she was and that she was late to cut the cake, Hattie is amazed and decides to go up to her room to change her clothes. Upon entering her room, she finds Ben and Sadie kissing in her bed, she is disappointed and goes downstairs to grab a baseball bat and attack them. John confuses her with Malcolm and trying to disguise it, invites her to dance together. Sherry comes down the stairs, along with Lester and Trent saying he's leaving, but Hattie is surprised to see Sherry after so long and doesn't want her to leave, but Nolan takes action and points a gun at Lester, but he didn't know how to shoot properly and all bullets fell to the ground, leaving him cornered and crying. Malcolm (disguised as Big Momma) breaks through the window and finds the real Big Momma at his side, and everyone is confused. Malcolm and Lester end up in a fist fight, and Big Momma gets in the middle and knocks both of them out with a headbutt, but ends up tripping and landing on Nolan. After Lester is arrested, she becomes enraged and demands an explanation.

When Malcolm enters the church by surprise, she doesn't accept it, but he confesses everything and ends up forgiving him, and ends the movie by singing "Oh Happy Day".

Big Momma's House 2[]

While not physically appearing in the film, Hattie makes a cameo appearance in a photo.

Personality[]

Hattie is a kind, friendly, outgoing woman who deeply loves her granddaughter Sherry. However, when she is annoyed, she can get short-tempered, sassy, and violent.
